Remote Power Management
Any enterprise that relies heavily on the use of distributed LAN/WAN internetworking devices and Windows NT or Unix servers needs Remote Power Management. Many enterprises rely on a UPS to keep equipment operational, such as connecting multiple internetworking devices to a power outlet on a single UPS. This can be problematic. Consider what happens when an individual router locks up.
The router power cord is connected to one of the multiple power outlets on the UPS, yet a UPS does not have the ability to individually power cycle one power output receptacle.
